By now, lots of you will know that I LOVE cats. I even have it proudly declared on my business postcards I give out to potential wedding clients haha!
So when I had the opportunity to visit Maison De Moggy, in Edinburgh, I have to say I was rather excited. Having previously visited a cat cafe before I had some idea of what to expect, but I was actually blown away by how great this place is! I took quite a few photos so decided to pop together this blog post as a review of my experience there.
On arrival, the lovely assistant manager greeted us and explained some house rules – I was actually a little shocked that some other visitors would even consider feeding the cats cake or picking them up for selfies when they were asleep?! So, I was pleased that the other people who were at the same one hour time slot looked as dumbfounded as me as the rules were explained. It’s clear how much the staff there love and care for the cats.
Once we’d got through the doors and put our bags, coats and shoes away, I instantly felt relaxed. It was like going to someone’s lovely house who happened to have some amazing gorgeous cats and getting to meet them all.
A lot of the cats were sleeping or lazing around, which thankfully everyone who was there totally respected. The atmosphere was really calm but happy.
There was an exception to this – Elodie, the resident Sphinx cat was full of beans, she was jumping around and wasted no time attempting to steal cake from the human guests. At one point she leapt into my lap!
Eventually she was tucked in for a nice lie down!
I ordered a hazelnut mocha and a lovely cake, all the drinks & cakes are prepared in a cat free environment, there’s also a big gate on the kitchen door to stop the mischevious ones (aka Elodie) from sneaking in. Everything was delicious!
The other great thing about Maison De Moggy is that they have so much custom made climbing and sleeping places for the cats. It’s really unique and fun to see the cats walking around and interacting with it. I made a mental note of what to make and buy for my future house!! (My dream home would have a whole wing for the cats!)
I really fell in love with this little chap below, I believe his name is Marcel although I could have mistaken him for his brother Philippe (Had to study the Maison De Moggy website to try and work out out!) He was lazing in the window really enjoying a cat nap.
Maison De Moggy is open 7 days a week, and bookings can be made via their website . The entry is £7 per person for a one hour slot, and in my opinion is well worth it.
It didn’t feel as rushed as the other cat cafes i’ve visited before. The staff were so lovely too, and let us have the whole one hour time slot before we had to start putting on our shoes and settling the bill etc, so it was a lot more relaxed.
There was also no pressure to buy drinks & cake, but you definitely should because it’s blumming delicious 🙂
I will definitely return next time i’m in Edinburgh!
