I’ve known Sam & Sylvia from many years, back when I lived near to Sylvia in Newcastle, and she was staying in the area for work. Her and Sam were in the early stages of navigating a (long distance) relationship. Eventually they moved to Scotland together. We stayed in touch via Facebook, and I was delighted when they got in touch to say they were getting married and wanted to book me!

After a couple of Covid postponements, their wedding finally went ahead in May 2022 in Aviemore. I absolutely adore Scotland and the Highlands, so I was delighted to take a trip up. It was fantastic being able to meet their friends & family the day before as well and really feel part of the gang.

They got married at the McDonald Aviemore Resort, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After getting ready close by, they had a first look in the gardens outside. Tears all around!

After the ceremony, we took a trip in a fantastic Landrover Defender, driven by their friend, to their beloved Loch Morlich for some couples photographs The famous Spud The Piper came along too. We took some relaxed portraits on the beach, surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of the Cairngorms mountain range.

Their cake was created by the super talented Lily Rose Cakes -how absolutely cute are the Highland Coos!?!

They went beautifully with their rustic & wild table settings, which were also themed around different whiskeys.

The AMAZING Los Perros entertained in the evening and got everyone on the dancefloor, including me.

What an amazing day!! A huge thanks to Sam & Sylvia for booking me to shoot their amazing Scottish wedding in Aviemore. I had such a blast.

Faith & Chris: An atmospheric woodland wedding in the rain at The Pendle Sculpture Trail

Faith & Chris finally got married!

So Faith and Chris booked me back in 2019 for their 2020 wedding, and after several postponements, and two venue changes, the day finally arrived in September 2022. Nothing was going to stop them, even a flat tyre enroute to the wedding, or the threat of torrential rain…

They chose to have a small, legal ceremony at Huddersfield Town Hall, and then we all met up at

The Pendle Inn, surrounded by countryside close to Burnley & Clitheroe.

The venue and area is steeped in history, most famously known for the Pendle Witches. So when I turned up, and it was raining, foggy and totally atmospheric, I was SO excited. The weather fitted perfectly with the style of the wedding, and Faith & Chris’ laid back, outdoor loving nature.

The bride & and her daughter wore dresses made by were beautifully made by Faith’s Mum.

I do love a plan before the wedding day, but for Faith & Chris, they literally wanted me to capture the events as they unfolded, and to take ‘whatever I thought’. They were totally trusting and just happy to ‘go with the flow’.

Once the guests had gathered, we got our brollies, waterproofs and wellies at the ready, we hiked through the rain to the gorgeous woodland at The Pendle Sculpture Trail for the ceremony. The short personal ceremony was conducted by the couples friend, and featured poems, readings, live music & even a dance.

You know the bride is laid back when she slips over in the mud in her dress, puts her hands in the air and carries on laughing!

We then explored the woodland, and waded through some mud to capture a few couples photographs, I got rather excited about the UNICORN…

Dusk set in and we headed back to the pub to warm up, dry off, and eat some warming food. There was also a face painter & balloon artist (AMAZING!) and a lovely cosy atmosphere.

What a wonderful, personal wedding for this pair. Congratulations Faith & Chris, here are some highlights….

A colourful, fun & happy Hawaiian themed wedding in Liverpool: Shell & Dan

Wow! What can I say?! Shell & Dan’s wedding at Leaf on Bold Street in Liverpool was SO much fun!

This travel-loving couple originally planned to get married in Hawaii, unfortunately the events of 2020 got in the way, so after a small lockdown wedding, they decided to get their friends & family together to have a bash in Liverpool instead.

They chose to have a laid back, non-traditional wedding. Shell loves Disney, and Lil0 & Stitch in particular, and even walked down the aisle wearing her Stitch backpack. Dan wore an authentic shirt from Hawaiian shirt shop.

Dan’s Dad conducted their ceremony, incorporating some Hawaiian traditions. He even surprised the couple by stripping off his traditional suit at the beginning of the ceremony, as he was wearing some more fitting attire underneath, it was a really funny start.

Instead of the usual wedding presents, the couple asked their guests to take part in a Taskmaster style challenge, and the guests were tasked with bringing something blue to the wedding for their gift table. The guest who brought the most interesting thing was rewarded with a trophy.Wow their guests were imaginative! Everything from kids games, to bath mats to blue sweeties… the winner was a guest who bought a donkey adoption on their behalf, called Blue! NB. The donkey wasn’t invited to the wedding but I get the feeling if he was, he would have joined in the party for sure!

Another important thing to Shell & Dan was to pop next door to their favourite restaurant, Mowgli for a cheeky chat bomb….We also snuck out for a few couples photographs in a VERY busy Liverpool.

The amazing flowers were actually made from paper! By the very talented Rebecca from Paper Bouquets UK

It was a brilliant celebration from start to finish, and I was so lucky to be part of it!

Libby & Debi’s Alternative, Two Bride, Halloween Wedding

Wow! Libby & Debi’s first wedding date set was in July 2020. After 2 stressful postponements, they finally got married on 31st October 2021.

When the couple got engaged, Libby dreamed of having a Halloween themed wedding but Debi wasn’t quite as keen. As fate would have it, Libby ended up winning on this one after the Covid madness of 2020! The theme was absolutely perfect for the setting of Lumley Castle.

Working alongside Mike from Moon River Films was brilliant too.

Just walking into their house, you could see that these girls LOVE Halloween!

They had an emotional first look in the living room, before heading to Lumley Castle to tie the knot. Their Halloween themed wedding was amazing – check out their outstanding cake from Mrs Boucake !

A Volkswagen & A Velvet Jacket! Ashley & Bronwyn’s Wedding at The Arches, Halifax

Ashley & Bronwyn’s booking was rather last minute, passed onto me from another photographer who unfortunately wasn’t able to cover their day due to illness.

I was delighted to be available, and felt very lucky to have been asked, as it was a truly fantastic day all round. Due to the last-minute nature, we’d only had time for a brief chat on the phone and a bit of last minute planning by email… but this was more than enough for this loved-up couple. It was clear from the minute I arrived they were both going to throw themselves into having fun. and going with the flow on their wedding day, after two Covid postponements..nothing could stop them!

When I arrived at Bronwyn’s Nan & Grandad’s house, I immediately felt like one of the gang… we had such a giggle. Bronwyn’s Nan had bought enough sweets for the wedding to stock a corner shop….resulting in a sugar high all day for all!

The venue, The Arches at Dean Clough, Halifax is brilliant for an urban, industrial and laid back wedding. It’s got bags of character and a looooad of twinkly lights.

The day was brilliant from start to finish and I managed to get out in golden light for some relaxed portraits of the new Mr & Mrs….. what a bonus!
