I met Priya and Callum back in 2014 when Priya was a bridesmaid for close friend Lindsey at High House Farm Brewery. Fast forward a while, her and fiancé Callum got in touch to discuss their two day Indian & English wedding celebrations at Shortflatt Tower, Belsay in Northumberland.
Callum was then best man for James, at his wedding to Stephanie back in April, so when their turn finally came around to get married, I found lots of familiar faces at their big day!
I was so excited to shoot my first Indian wedding and first two day celebrations, and I am really grateful to Priya & Callum for putting their trust in me to capture their double celebration. This blog post features the highlights of their brilliant Indian wedding day, which took place in July. They were keen for lots of fun, relaxed & colourful images to capture the atmosphere.
I’ll be sharing their outdoor English civil wedding at a later date!
All of the guests joined in the fun, and almost everyone dressed in traditional Indian clothes, which was just so colourful! Callum is a bit of a big kid, so getting to dance around and dress up suited him so well! Him and his groomsmen were absolutely loving it.
There was a buzz of activity over at the tower where the bride & bridesmaids were getting ready.
Callum sent over a really thoughtful book of photographs for Priya documenting their relationship, soo sweet!
Over at the marquee, the brides guests were gathering to watch the groom & his guests be drummed in from across the lawn, and they certainly danced in the rain!
A really memorable part of the day was when the close family members greeted each other, for example, Grandfathers on both sides stepped forward to greet each other, the mums, Dads, Aunties. It was really wonderful and rather emotional.
The ceremony was a traditional Hindu ceremony, which took place on the mandep (stage) and featured lots of elements, calling for a long and happy life together blessed by God. Both sets of parents watched on, and it took place around a fire which was created during the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, the guests stepped forward to congratulate the couple and throw rose petals over them.
The colourful fresh flowers were from Floral Quarter in Gosforth.
After some short thank you speeches, the guests tucked into an Indian curry buffet which went down a treat!
As Priya & Callum were having two consecutive wedding days, they chose to have a more relaxed evening just chilling out with the guests staying on site. Just before I left we spent a few minutes creating some couples portraits with them around the willow tree that Callum loves!
I absolutely loved both days of Priya & Callum’s wedding day and I look forward to sharing part two with you very soon.
Big congrats to them on their marriage and a huge thanks again for having me share in both days!
