Joanna & Chris got married in June 2018 at Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland.

Brinkburn Priory is a tucked away little venue in between Morpeth & Rothbury, down by the river Coquet. It’s a peaceful place and the whole atmosphere is just so special.

The couple chose to have a civil ceremony in The White Room in the onsite Stables Cottage, and then celebrated their marriage with a relaxed tipi reception.

The whole day was beautiful, family orientated and full of so much love.

The venue went above and beyond, especially when there was a mix up over the cake (the cake maker had the wrong month in their diary!). The wedding co-ordinator, Jan, quickly resolved the situation of wedding-cake-gate (before the bride & groom even knew!) with a trip to local bakery The Running Fox , and jazzed it up with some beautiful florals from Lavenders Blue.

When something like that happens on a wedding day, after all the planning, the couples reaction says a lot about them… They didn’t let it affect their day at all, and carried on smiling! Jo & Chris were really grateful to Jan for sorting it so quickly. Turns out they originally wanted a rustic style naked cake anyway! 🙂

I look forward to returning to Brinkburn Priory as it’s certainly one of my favourite Northumberland wedding venues.

Crow Hill Wedding Venue, Marsden, Huddersfield

Crow Hill is a beautiful wedding venue, tucked away on the edge of Marsden Moor in Marsden, Huddersfield. I’ve heard lots about it and took the opportunity to visit on an open evening and to meet some other local wedding suppliers. The grounds are stunning, and they even host weddings outside nestled underneath a huge oak tree. It’s definitely a lovely venue to have family come and stay for the weekend.

John Francis Cakes are based in Marsden village and their cakes are absolutely stunning, I loved their sunflower cake, and the colours went beautifully with the setting of the kitchen at Crow Hill. (Side note – DREAM KITCHEN!!!)

Hiring Crow Hill means you have exclusive use of the whole place, including accommodation for 31 of your nearest and dearest. The bedrooms are beautifully styled – and I love the huge mirrors in the room, perfect for you and your bridesmaids to get ready in!

Ceremonies can take place in the licensed drawing room, for up to 80 guests, or outside ceremonies are available for up to 150 guests. There’s also St Bartholomew’s Church just a few minutes away in Marsden itself for a religious ceremony.

It was wonderful to meet the staff from Mia Sposa in Huddersfield – who not only provide beautiful wedding gowns but also offer menswear too.

Wedding receptions generally take place in the marquee, which is a permanent structure with elaborate chandeliers and also a stylish bar. I especially loved the little ‘chill out areas’, perfect for Grandparents to have a sit down next to the wedding celebrations.

PINIMAGEAnother special thing about Crow Hill is that they are able to style your wedding for you- saving you time and money! They have a fab page on their website with more information – see here. The marquee on the open evening was styled by Crow Hill, with flowers by Lily Blossom Florist, based in Marsden as well. The marquee seats up to 150 for a wedding breakfast and 200 for an evening reception.

It was wonderful to get the opportunity to look around on the opening evening and I am so lucky that this West Yorkshire wedding venue is virtually on my doorstep. I look forward to photographing lots of fun & happy weddings there!

Colourful Ouseburn Pre-wedding Shoot for Andrew & Andrew

How on earth is it 2018 already?? Someone stole time, I swear! Anyway I was having a look over some of my shoots and realised there’s quite a few that I haven’t shown on the blog yet, so wanted to have a good old catch up and schedule in some posts 🙂

Andrew & Andrew got married at The Baltic (See their wedding here!) and before the big day they chose to have a pre-wedding shot around Ouseburn in Newcastle. It’s a quirky place with bars, creative spaces and some family attractions. They wanted some colourful, urban photographs and I think we achieved that.

Travel Themed Healey Barn Wedding For Emma & Emily

Emma & Emily got married at the amazing Cripps Healey Barn, near Corbridge, Northumberland. I’d second shot here a couple of times with Chris, and was really excited to be photographing the two brides gorgeous wedding as the lead photographer!

The brides got ready at the nearby Derwent Manor Hotel.

Carolyn Clayton was the wedding hairdresser and did an amazing job!

After a fun and emotional morning getting ready, it was time to head to Healey Barn for the ceremony. Emily waited at the top of the aisle with her bridesmaid as Emma made her entrance. The ceremony was extremely emotional!

After the ceremony it was time for drinks, canapes and photographs with the dog of honour, Meg!

The gorgeous bouquets and floral arranagements were created by Healey Flowers.

The brides created a travel theme themselves, using various trinkets and photographs they had collected on their trips abroad. It was so beautiful and personal!

The thing I love about summer weddings is the chance to create some relaxed portraits in gorgeous light later on in the day. We headed out to the forest nearby before the evening reception and it was wonderful!

A lot of people ask me ‘So, what’s your favourite wedding venue?’ I do have a few I love, but my reply is always the same, the people make the wedding. The couple, the guests. This was especially true at Emma & Emily’s wedding. Everyone was so friendly, and their best man, Matt, was absolutely hilarious… he was so keen to catch the bouquet that he did some warm up stretches beforehand. The ladies at the wedding had zero chance at beating him!

Under The Cherry Blossoms: Alnwick Garden Springtime Post Wedding Shoot

After Leanne & Arny’s colourful wedding, they chose to have post wedding shoot at The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland. Alnwick Garden is one of my favourite wedding venues, along with the Alnwick Treehouse Restaurant next door so I was thrilled when the couple told me that they wanted their post wedding shoot there.

It was spring time, and the cherry blossom trees were out in full force. I was delighted to capture some fun and relaxed wedding photographs with this gorgeous backdrop.

We also stepped in front of the magnificent Alnwick Castle for some photographs amongst thousands of daffodils. Beautiful!
