Wildflowers & Cheese! Ross & Joe’s Hotel Du Vin Wedding

They opted to have the legal ceremony the day before their wedding, so that they could have a personal, humanist ceremony which included their families. The whole day, from the groom preparations until the early hours of dancing all took place at Hotel Du Vin near Newcastle Quayside.

The gorgeous wildflower button holes and flower details from the day were all created by Floral Quarter in Gosforth.

After the groom preparations we took a stroll along the Quayside for their photographs so that they had more time to spend with their guests after the ceremony.

The ceremony took place in the bistro of Hotel Du Vin. It was rather amusing when the couple walked down the aisle and had to manoeuvre their way around the pillar!

Vicky from Floral Quarter created the wildflower displays which were beautifully displayed on wood slices to line the aisle.

The courtyard was stunningly decorated with blue bunting from Emma Bunting. It really added some wow factor to the wedding.

Joe & Ross love cheese, so it was brilliant they chose to have a cheese stack to serve to their guests with plenty of chutney and crackers. The grooms actually arranged the fruit and flowers on the cake themselves on the morning of the wedding, with flowers from Floral Quarter. They certainly did an amazing job!

Gin & Daisies! Chris & Emma’s wedding at High House Farm Brewery

From the first moment I met Emma & Chris, we hit it off straight away. We got chatting over a cuppa at their house and I left with hugs and feeling like i’d made two new friends. We had a great time at their pre-wedding shoot in Cumbria, where Emma’s from (including a stop for tea and cake) and kept in touch in the lead up to their big day.

It was a beautiful bright sunny day in August, and Emma and her bridesmaids excitedly got ready at The Garden Rooms Cottage near Corbridge. It’s a perfect location for bridal preparations with so much character.

Emma’s dress came from YAP Bridal in Newcastle, where she had a brilliant experience choosing her dress. It suited her PERFECTLY. The little BBQ hut was crying out to be photographed too 😉

Jules Fleur was the amazing florist that created some magical bouquets and displays for the wedding. Featuring lots of daisies and other wildflowers.

Emma’s Step-Dad renovated LANDROVER from scratch and painted it cream to make it perfect for Emma & Chris’ wedding… wowza…..and it had floral touches on the front from Jules Fleur.

Emma & her bridesmaids travelled to the wedding in it, and it was a real talking point at the wedding all day.

The wedding took place at High House Farm Brewery near Matfen which is a beautiful barn wedding venue in Northumberland. The barn has a wedding licence so you are able to get married outdoors, and the weather was perfect too! Emma handcrafted lots of DIY details for the day and some personalised signs. There was even a 90’s themed Photo Booth!

The ceremony was so moving and personal, lots of tears and laughter.

The couple chose to serve down to earth ‘nibbles’ during the drinks reception rather than canapés, and they went down a treat!!!

The hay bales at the farm make such a great backdrop for photos, and Emma and Chris were only too happy to jump up for some fun shots.

The couple chose to make a donation to Blood Pressure UK, in memory of Emma’ Mum who sadly passed away the year before the wedding.

The daisy theme was a nod to her also, as it was one of her favourite flowers.

The guests were served pie & mash which went down an absolute storm!

Emma’s Dad made a hilarious slideshow of images of Emma throughout her life, and had everyone in stitches!

The party got started with the first dance and everyone joined in to crack out some dance moves, to lots of 90’s cheese too!

A colourful celebration with a camper van: Lizzy & Callum’s Newton Hall Wedding

Lizzy & Callum tied the knot at Newton Hall which is a Northumberland wedding venue on the coast. They planned a fun, colourful and laid back wedding.

The bridesmaids wore different coloured dresses and everything was brought beautifully together with bouquets & floral centrepieces from Floral Quarter in Gosforth. Here’s the highlights of their special day!

When I arrived, Lizzy was getting ready in the cute little cottages behind the hall. Simone Whitehead was on hand for hair, and Lizzy looked gorgeous with flowers finishing off her do 🙂

The ceremony room was decorated in a rustic way, with hessian chair ties and jars of roses & wildflowers from Floral Quarter lining the aisle.

Lizzy’s Dad has a great sense of humour and a couple of times during the ceremony he had a bit of ‘banter’ with the registrar and with groom Callum!

Just before the meal, myself & the bride and groom headed in the camper van hired from Go Retro. We went for a little jaunt down the road and through neighbouring villages, to give the couple a few minutes together before the meal and to get some fun photographs.

Callum and Lizzy both share a love of Sci-Fi and class themselves as being into ‘quite geeky’ things… so the table names were on that theme, and there were many Star Trek references!

The cake was a gorgeous 5 tier, topsy-turvy design with floral sugar details, and came from Baked.Cupcakery in Sunderland, as did the personalised cupcake favours. I love the little hand painted roses, reminds me of my love of Cath Kidston designs!

The speeches were hilarious and featured the best men kitting Callum out in safety gear, as apparently he is notorious at being clumsy and hurting himself… oops! Love it!

As the weather was a little wild later on, Lizzy & Callum opted to stay at Newton Hall for some photographs inside the fab building instead of venturing to the beach and potentially getting completely blown away! The building itself is gorgeous in all weathers anyway 🙂

Fishtail & Floral Prettiness! Jane & Ian’s Eshott Hall Wedding in Northumberland

Jane & Ian had a traditional and fun wedding at St Nicholas’ Church in West Boldon, followed by their reception at Eshott Hall in Northumberland. We dodged the raindrops and were treated to some late afternoon sun after the wedding breakfast.

Jane looked stunning in her fishtail gown with lace touches! Irene MUA was on hand to make the ladies look absolutely gorgeous.

On arrival at Eshott Hall, guests enjoyed Pimms in the sunshine! Perfect for a summer wedding.

The bride & groom named tables after places near to their heart… and had colourful flowers on rustic wood slices as centrepieces. The purple chairs really added a fabulous pop of colour to the room!

Pretty Pink Peonies: Erin & Jonny’s Garden Wedding

Erin & Jonny opted to have a very personal wedding day to celebrate their marriage. With a church blessing conducted by Erin’s Mom, followed by a marquee and garden wedding at the groom’s parents home. The next door neighbour casually offered his lawn to host their wedding marquee, and it all worked out beautifully.

Erin is originally from America, and her family & friends flew in to share in the celebrations. Many of them were excitedly chatting about what they’d seen so far in the UK, which was so lovely!

Here are some highlights of their wedding day….

Helen from Bel’s Flowers provided the amazing peony & rise bouquets, as well as the other floral arrangements on the day.

Erin’s dress came from BHLDN – Anthropologie Bridal in America, and was a stunning lace dress with lots of unusual detail.

The service was really personal, lead by Erin’s Mom, and Jonny’s uncle performed his own reading.

Their fabulous semi-naked cake was baked by The Master Cakesmith and adorned with fresh peonies and roses.

The centre of the marquee had a real talking point, a huge fresh floral chandelier created by Helen from Bel’s Flowers.

I thought it was such a lovely idea to serve scones, jam and cream for the dessert. Erin & Jonny were kind enough to include me in their meal and I was involved in a little debate about what goes on first, the jam or the cream, as we were instructing the American half of the table on how to construct their scone. It’s jam, obviously!

After some moving & funny speeches, it was time for everyone to relax and enjoy the gardens. Erin & Jonny took some time out for some relaxed portraits in the late afternoon sun.

How AMAZING is that light!?!?!

In the evening, the couple invited more guests to enjoy a chilled out garden party in Jonny’s parents garden.
