Putting some words together for Jen & Jenni’s wedding day will prove rather difficult. It was so epic!
I’ve got to know Jen & Jenni (aka TEAM JEN) since they booked me for their wedding and they are a fun, outgoing, adventurous couple who enjoy being big kids together, and always make the people around them giggle.
They wanted a wedding that took all of this into account, and High House Farm Brewery in Northumberland proved the perfect venue for them. The brides just had fun from start to finish, so much laughter, emotion, happy times spent with family and friends.
The bridal preparations took place at the B&B just round the corner. The brides got ready separately and had a ‘first look’ downstairs just before the ceremony.
Lorna, of The Design Studio provided all of the beautiful flowers for the wedding day. The couple wanted colourful, unstructured flowers and so I recommended Lorna as I know she does this really well and can do something a bit ‘different’. The brides were over the moon when they saw their bouquets.
The brides had ‘mini maids’ who carried individual sunflowers. Instead of a traditional wedding party, there was ‘The J Team’ consisting of close friends & family who helped with wedding planning and with the smooth running of the day.
The first look was so emotional! The couple saw each other for the first time and I told them to forget I was there and I just photographed what happened.
It was a rainy, windy and quite cold day (but you can’t really tell in the photos!) but the brides were determined to have their ceremony outside in the haybarn. As very outdoorsy girls, a bit of bad weather wasn’t going to stop them!
The ceremony was very personal and emotional, with a few giggles thrown in.
After the first kiss, there just had to be the girl’s signature selfie at the top of the aisle!
Seriously, how beautiful are the brides bouquets from The Design Studio?!
For favours, Team Jen wanted to share what they loved with their guests, so they had personalised beer and hot chocolate with marshmallows for them to take home. They had two wedding cakes, made by family, one depicting their journey as a couple and getting engaged in Aviemore, and one naked cake.
The brides and The J Team had created lots of DIY details for the day, including jars which Lorna had added wildflowers to.
The brides were given funny hoodies as part of the speeches – apparently because their families were so surprised that they chose wedding dresses on the day as they are usually much more likely to be spotted in a hoodie. Haha!
The first dance was to ‘Shut Up And Dance With Me’ which was different and so fitting for this fun pair. The North East DJ was on hand to get the party started, and just after the first dance, there was a ‘power cut’ – but it was all part of a secret plot to put on a flashmob. Great work from the DJ & the dancers!
Just as I was about to leave I noticed that the sun had finally come out and was creating some gorgeous light, I asked Team Jen if they wanted a wander in the lane for some final photographs and thankfully they were up for it!
A huge big congratulations to Mrs & Mrs Team Jen on their marriage!! Thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer it was a huge honour.
